Upgraded the blog

April 15th, 2017

Nothing much is new to blog about, but I did upgrade the blog here. I'm getting into more VBA coding at work, part of me enjoys it, part of me feels so restricted by the limitations of the language.

git

August 31st, 2015

Now using git at work and home to track my projects--why didn't I start doing this years ago? This is an awesome tool for collaboration on projects and tracking changes. Love it. I set up a remote repo at work too, now only if I could get some other contributors!

Replaced a door

I replaced our kitchen door leading to the basement. Made good use of a chisel, belt sander, saw and utility knife to get the door to fit. Our foundation has sunk by about a quarter of an inch causing the door to no longer be perfectly square. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Utility pump

March 12th, 2015

Bought a small 1/6HP utility pump from Home Depot. I wish I bought it last year to empty the garage when it flooded. Works like a charm! It says it gets the water down to 3/16 of an inch, and it easily got the half frozen water down to 1/2 of an inch. I'm excited to try it when the rest of the water melts and intrudes into the garage.

Motion sensor light

July 30th, 2014

Bought and installed a motion sensor light for above the garage front door. We had someone walk into our backyard, enter the garage and steal, of all things, a lamp. I think we'll start setting the alarm system too from now on.

Strangely, when installing it, the neutral wire came off. I installed it with electrical tape and a wire nut. Weird. I'm just glad it wasn't the hot wire.
